Noopur Choksi is a Visual Designer & Illustrator from India, currently based in the USA. She studied Graphic Design at the National Institute of Design (NID) and has an MFA in Illustration Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Her work is a reflection of her experimentation with typography, narratives, and image-making. She uses visualization to externalize the often intangible, energetic, emotional environments of her subjects. She gravitates towards stories that depict a surrealistic and intimate representation of human nature and is inspired by music, science, drag, fashion, and narratives of feminine power. She strives to create visuals that challenge perception, push boundaries, and are not afraid to be strong, unapologetic, and layered in their interpretations.
Through her work, she explores grey areas of societal expectations, adding vibrancy and warmth within digital and analog mediums. Her illustrative practice seeks to develop a multimodal approach to visual communication, emphasizing self-awareness and reminding us that ‘looking’ is not always the same as ‘seeing’.
Her work has been recognised by American Illustration Awards, It’s Nice That, Creative Boom, Platform Mag, Communication Arts, Boooom.com, Young Ones, Visual Melt and Printed Pages magazine.
